General Information

  • Registration: After completion of admission process, a student shall be required to register under the North Eastern Hill University, Shillong within the first semester of his/her admission. Those students passing from outside the jurisdiction of the University will have to submit their Migration Certificate within one month after the admission.
  • Identity Card: After admission to the College each student is entitled to get an identity card signed by the Principal and it is a proof of his/her status as a student of this College. Students are required to bring their identity card with them to College and produce it as and when necessary. Loss of identity card must be reported immediately to the office and will be replaced on payment of Rs. 200/-. In case of transfer or withdrawal from the college, the card must be surrendered at the College office. Students should collect their new Identity Cards at the beginning of the new academic session.
  • Examination: The college conducts regular sessional examinations and assignments in each Semester whereas the end semester examinations are conducted by the University. Evaluation in each course shall be on the basis of performance through continuous assessment and the end semester examinations. Distribution of marks in each paper will be 75% from the End Semester Examination and 25% from the Internal Assessment.
  • Attendance: Name of the student will be struck off if he/she fails to attend 75% of the classes held during the first 15 days of the new academic session. Attendance of at least 75% of the classes held during the course of study is necessary as eligibility for appearing at the University examinations. Students failing the requirement of minimum attendance will not be allowed to appear at the University Examination.
  • Dress Code: The college has its own dress code (Uniform) with a color combination – navy blue (Lower) and white (Upper). Thus, all the students are expected to dress appropriately.
  • Discipline: The College expects every student to abide by the following code of conduct. The Disciplinary Committee of the college is empowered to deal with cases of indiscipline such as:-
    • Sitting in the vehicle in the college compound or on the road side is strictly prohibited.
    • Students shall take proof care of the college furniture and must not spoil or cause any deliberate damage or tamper with the College property, furniture, fittings etc.
    • Not switching off electronic gadgets like mobile phones, music systems etc before entering the classrooms/library/conference hall etc.
    • Chewing of bettle-nut (Kwai), spitting and sticking or pasting of chewing gum in any form on the wall/desks/benches of the college.
    • Smoking and chewing of tobacco and its products.
    • Littering- like throwing of scraps, used polythene bags, empty water bottles, chewing gum wrappers, etc.(Please use the dustbins provided all around).
    • Passing Improper comments about anybody and eve teasing of all forms are strictly prohibited.
    • Mobile phone if carried by the students should be switch off while in classrooms/library and corridor of the college.
  •  General Rule: The College introduced the faculty mentor scheme in the academic session 2017 – 18. Under this scheme each student admitted to the college is attached with one faculty member who would be his/her guide and counsellor for his/her entire period of stay in the college. Students are encouraged to discuss any issues or problems – academic or personal, with their respective faculty mentors. This scheme aims at building a good student-teacher relationship, in addition to solving the day to day or any long term problems the students may be facing in college or in his personal life.
    • Students must be punctual and regular in attending classes.
    • They should come to the college in a decent attired.
    • Students must consult the College Notice board, website every day, failing which the College authority will not be responsible for any inconveniences.
    • Students are required to attend all extra-curricular activities organized by the institution.
    • Parking of vehicle is available in the earmarked parking area for the Assistant Professors and guests. In view of shortage of space, students should park their cars outside the college premises in the place provide for.
    • The Principal will use his/her discretionary powers for all matters not covered above.
